This year’s Eurovision winner Loreen will be performing in Malta on 25 July. The Swedish star will be having a 30-40 minute performance in a show to take place at the Malta Fairs and Convention Centre (MFCC), Ta’ Qali at 20.00h.
Stand Out Events are also including other popular local live acts and top dance artists. Tenisha, Kurt Calleja, DJ Ruby, Brooke and the debut band MsLeads will also appear in the same show as well.
It will be Loreen’s second visit to Malta as her winning entry Euphoria is highly popular on the island. The event will be hosted by Nathan D.
Stand Out Director Antonella Vassallo spoke enthusiastically about the event and in a press conference said that this is going to be a concert full of Maltese talent. She said she is honoured that a Eurovision song contest winner will be visiting Malta for the first time at the peak of the singer’s success.
“We need to support more the Maltese talent. It’s going to be a party more than a concert.”
Loreen will perform live six songs from her repetoire. Raised in the countryside outside Stockholm in a family of Moroccan-Berber origin, Loreen’s musical influences include Bjork and the Australian musician Lisa Gerrard. She is currently working on a full album project.
The Swedish star enjoyed international success following her victory with her song ‘Euphoria’ in Baku, Azerbaijan. ‘Euphoria’ topped many European charts and reached number 3 on the UK official singles chart.
DJ Ruby and Tenisha will draw crowds with their dance music before and after her performance. The international radio listeners have cast their votes, and they confirm Loreen’s spectacular Eurovision win last month in Baku, Azerbaijan with the song Euphoria. With Loreen’s victory in two categories, ‘Best Song’ and ‘Best Female Artist’, Sweden triumphs for a second year in a row after winning two ESC Radio Award trophies last year with Eric Saade and Popular. Before 2011, Sweden couldn’t win any trophy in the listeners’ votings.
The ESC Radio Awards winning song Euphoria, with 17.0 % of the vote, was written by Peter Boström & Thomas G:son. For G:son it’s the second trophy, following D’Nash’s win in 2007 with Spain’s entry I Love You Mi Vida which he co-wrote. The 2nd place in the ‘Best Song’ category, with 8.46% of the vote, goes to La La Love, performed by Ivi Adamou for Cyprus. The listeners’ voting confirms the performance of these two songs in the European charts after the Contest. Estonia’s Kuula came 3rd with 6.74%.
In the ‘Best Female’ Artist category, Loreen won with 17.3%, Italy’s representative Nina Zilli came 2nd (13.3%), and her Baku entry L’Amore È Femmina (Out of Love) finished 4th in the ‘Best Song’ voting. The 3rd place as ‘Best Female Artist’ goes to Ivi Adamou (Cyprus) with 12.5% of the vote.
The voting in the ‘Best Male Artist’ category resulted in a clear win (19.8%) for Ott Lepland who represented Estonia at this year’s ESC with Kuula. The song took the 3rd place in the ‘Best Song’ category. Runner-up as ‘Best Male’ is Roman Lob from Germany with 16.5% of the vote , closely followed by Serbia’s Željko Joksimović with 15.6%.
In the ‘Best Group’ category it was a veritable neck-and-neck race all the way, and only last night during the last hours of voting the decision fell in favour of Iceland’s Gréta Salóme & Jónsi, who performed Never Forget in Baku. The Icelandic duo pipped Romania’s band Mandinga by just a few votes, 23.7 and 23.5%, respectively. The 3rd place goes to Sinplus from Switzerland, with 13.9% of the vote. For Iceland it’s already the third trophy win since the ESC Radio Awards were initiated in 2006: in 2008 Euroband won the ‘Best Group’ trophy and in 2009 the listeners voted Yohanna ‘Best Female Artist’.
I have made a list of all Youtube video clips featuring Loreen and counted the number of views. Yesterday (Saturday June 30) the total sum passed 100 million views, when counting all clips with more than 10.000 views (398 in total). 15 clips have more than 1 million views. I count all clips showing music and appearances with Loreen herself, remixes, interviews, backstage footage, etc. I don’t count covers by other artists or other longer clips where Loreen is only featured a shorter part, such as summaries from ESC 2012.

Loreen, the winner of the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest, will soon have her portrait hung in Stockholm’s Arlanda airport to fill a gap left when a picture of Abba was taken down after Benny Andersson demanded it be removed.

The face of Loreen, Sweden’s latest Eurovision champion, is in the news again.
This time, however, it’s in the form of her very own portrait, which is set to replace a picture of Swedish super group and former Eurovision Song Contest winners Abba that had previously hung in Stockholm’s main airport.
“It is a fantastic honour, and it feels incredible to be part of the Stockholm Hall of Fame along with these other Swedish figures,” Loreen said in a statement.
The picture of Abba that had been included in Arlanda’s “Hall of Fame” was removed earlier this year after Andersson protested against controversial renovations of the Slussen interchange in central Stockholm.
Andersson hoped to use his portrait as leverage to block the planned renovations, and when plans proceeded, the singer held true to his word.
“I have no desire to be a billboard for a city that makes unreasonable decisions like this,” said Andersson to Dagens Nyheter (DN) at the time.
“I am not available for use anymore.”
Loreen’s portrait will hang alongside the portraits of other Swedish icons, past and present, including film director Ingmar Bergman and King Carl XVI Gustaf.
The portraits have their home in Stockholm’s two international terminals, and Loreen’s will be placed in Terminal 5.
Over 19 million people land in Stockholm’s Arlanda Airport every year, according to Swedavia, guaranteeing even more exposure for the Swedish pop-star.

This year’s Eurovision winner Loreen will be performing in Malta on 25th July. Close sources to esctoday.com stated that the Swedish star will be having a 30-40 minute performance in a show to take place at the Malta Fairs and Convention Centre, Ta’ Qali. The venue was used for various editions of the Maltese national final including this year.
It will be Loreen’s second visit in Malta as her winning entry Euphoria is highly popular on the island. The event in which Loreen will perform is being organised by Stand Out Events Malta that are set to reveal more details in a press conference on Tuesday.
Malta’s 2012 hopeful Kurt Calleja and his band are also expected to appear in the same show Loreen will perform in. Malta gave six points to Sweden in the final of this year’s Eurovision Song Contest. The Swedish star enjoyed international success following her victory in Baku. Euphoria topped many European charts and reached number 3 on the UK official singles chart.
Loreen, the Buranovskiye Babushki and a dozen more participants and winners of the Eurovision Song Contest of different years will perform at the opening ceremony of the Slavonic Bazaar Festival in Vitebsk, BelTA learnt from the directorate of the festival.
Eurovision 2012 winner Lorine Zineb Nora Talhaoui better known by her stage name Loreen and the Russian folk group from the village of Buranovo from the Republic of Udmurtia will take part in the opening grand night gala of the 21st international festival of arts “Slavonic Bazaar in Vitebsk”. Loreen will perform her Euphoria while the signing grannies will arrange “Party for Everybody.”
The opening gala will also feature the winner of Eurovision 2009 Norwegian Alexander Rybak of Belarusian origin, the silver prize winner of Eurovision 2007 Verka Serdyuchka, and Belarus’ entry in Baku Litesound.
According to the directorate, this is far from being a full list of Eurovision winners and participants who will perform in Vitebsk. The festival will also welcome Eurovision 2002 winner Marie N from Latvia (Maria Naumova), Alsu of Russia (Eurovision runner-up in 2000), Pasha Parfeny (2012 Eurovision finalist from Moldova) and many others.
Loreen will be driving in a Mercedes cab around Sweden this summer. Here’s the clip that shows the Eurovision-winner choosing between the rides at her sponsor.
- She drives an SL now, but will use a summer car in the coming months, says Urban Qvarnström, director of Mercedes car sales in Stockholm.
The Västerås-based company Streamline/Prolounge has made the clip where Västerås’ own superstar Loreen gets to choose a car at Mercedes in Danderyd. The film was recorded after the victory in Melodifestivalen, but before the win in Eurovision.
Mercedes has a cooperative contract with Loreen’s record company Radar Music.
- It’s a great feeling. We felt that she’s hitting the right target group. She’s a good role model, an open and warm person. It’s a win-win situation. She gets to drive a nice car and for us it’s fun that she will be seen with a Mercedes, says Urban Qvarnström.
- It’s also important to her to own a car, since it’s hard for her to use the public transport due to all the commotion around her.
The car that she chooses in the clip, was that the car she really went for?
- Well, no, she changed her mind. She drives an SL now, but will drive a summer car sometime soon. She’s flexible.

Warner Music Sweden’s Loreen is currently number one in seven European charts with “Euphoria,” the track that some weeks ago won a landslide victory at the Eurovision Song Contest and broke the competition record for the highest number of “twelve points” scores (awarded by the jury groups for their favorite song). “Euphoria” also holds the No. 3 spot in the UK — the highest chart position for a non-UK Eurovision entry since Johnny Logan’s “Hold Me Now” in 1987.
The 28 year-old songstress from Västerås, Sweden is currently No. 1 in Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Ireland, Norway, Denmark and Finland, No. 2 in Holland and Sweden (where the single is six times platinum and spent six weeks at number one), and No. 3 in Belgium and the UK, making it one of the biggest successes from a Eurovision Song Contest winner in years. The song was co-written by Thomas G:son, a Warner/Chappell Music Publishing songwriter.
With her performances in much demand across Europe, Loreen is scheduled to perform on the internationally televised MTV World Stage in Gothemburg, Sweden on June 21st, alongside B.o.B. and Nelly Furtado, among others.
“Loreen’s ‘Euphoria’ is one of those rare hits that transcends language barriers and stands on its own as a powerful pop song,” said Björn Lindborg, General Manager, Warner Music Sweden. “While winning the Eurovision Song Contest was an ideal launch pad for such an infectious tune, Loreen was always destined to top charts globally. We can’t wait to help take her music beyond Europe, so that millions worldwide can experience this new, mesmerizing talent.”

‘Euphoria Guide’: What you didn’t saw on the contest
Taking “Euphoria” from Melodifestivalen to the stage in Baku brought some changes. Contribution Producer Rennie Mirroring was present in the backstage of Azerbaijan stage during the first rehearsal. He explains how the show changed since March.
The Back Vocals
As the Eurovision rules require that no playback can be used. Sweden has brought new back vocals: Johanna Beijbom, Britta Bergström and Monica Starck. Loreen choosed to pay attention to the back vocals in the international press conference after her first rehearsal.
- I feel even better about it than with the vocals in the pre-recorded version, it becomes more organic now, she said.
The cameras
The production, which will help Loreen to achieve victory in Baku is German.
- Picture Production will probably make it feel larger. From what I understand, they have been pretty nice to follow our wishes, says Rennie Mirro.
The snow
- We can’t have it, unfortunately, the special effect of the snow falling over her, but it will fall around the stage. However, the background gives the impression of dense snow. They can’t remove the snow from the stage in thirty seconds. It was so beautiful when the snow fell directly on her, but there was no way to get through.
The podium
To reduce the risk of Loreen fall off the platform, the stage has now 4 x 5 feet instead of 4 x 4 than in Melodifestivalen. The new platform is built by the German production.
The dancer
Ausben Jordan has a new starting position, the Swedish delegation, determined on stage the day before the first rehearsal.
- Instead of having him appearing behind her, he will be below the platform during two minutes and then comes up through a hatch. Hopefully the effect will be that he just gets up behind her.
The choreography
- We have put a lot of time to find it even more organic. The hope is to avoid jerks and get everything to flow together even more, says Rennie.
Clothes
At the first rehearsal, Loreen didn’t used her costume, but to cause a bigger impact in the Eurovision, they have developed a new outfit.
- If you liked how it looked in Melodifestivalen, you will really love it now!, says Loreen.
Background screens
Production in Baku has added white snowflakes on a black background as shown on the big screens behind the stage during part of the Swedish contribution, which is visually more sparse than many of the other in the competition.
